CBRL offers Visiting Research Fellowships tenable at the CBRL Kenyon Institute and CBRL British Institute in Amman. Accommodation is included plus a stipend and research expenses allowance. Non-stipendary Honorary Fellowships are also available.
Details and Forms
Visiting Research Fellowships: To enable established scholars in university posts (Senior Visiting Fellowships), and early career postdoctoral candidates within three years of the award of PhD (Visiting Fellowships) to spend time at one or more of the CBRL’s overseas institutes to conduct primary research, develop contacts, give lectures, and write up project results/publications derived from a thesis/research. The number of fellowships awarded annually varies.
Applicants for Senior Visiting Fellowships must be employed at a UK university, and applicants for a Visiting Fellowship must be ordinarily resident in the UK.

CBRL Honorary Fellowships: Honorary Fellows are appointed to enhance the academic standing of the CBRL through the conduct and publication of research of high quality within the arts, humanities, and social sciences. Honorary Fellows are expected to play an active role in the life of CBRL’s overseas institutes, through participation in the academic life of these establishments. Project Affiliation is required. Applications may be made for Honorary Fellowships at any time of the year.
Arabic language training
CBRL offers training for CBRL Fellows to take an optional semester of MSA Arabic at the Qasid Arabic Language Institute in Amman or at Al-Quds University in Jerusalem, and run an annual scholarship competition to study Arabic in Amman in partnershp with the Qasid Institute.
